I have a big question that might seem basic, yet if you stop to think about it, it’s a rather outstanding question. The question is: should substance addicts drink alcohol? Can individuals who are addicted to drugs or that have been addicted to drugs ingest alcoholic beverages without getting an addiction to alcohol? Obviously, there are folks who struggle because of substance addictions, regardless of whether these are in the past or present, everyday. These folks could also drink alcohol, yet another habit forming substance. Will these individuals form an addiction to this substance based off of their particular substance addiction? I’m sure I’m not going to discover one answer from this. I’m positive there are quite a few answers out there and solutions which men and women will disagree over. But what’s the general consensus?
The reason I ask is i actually have known a couple substance addicts that started drinking. They both had unique reactions to the alcohol. So now I feel a bit puzzled on precisely what the particular response is to such a question. I had this particular friend, Adam, that had been a using drug addict whenever he commenced to drink pretty heavily. He was actually addicted to cocaine and some kind of pain killer pills. He was previously a splendid dude in general, and yet when this guy was high on these things, it was just plain strange. It was clear this guy had a disorder and required help, yet he wouldn’t go for it and no one came for him. Then he commenced drinking. He speedily became an alcoholic as well. Basically, Basically, he would need a certain percentage of cocaine, pain killer pills, along with booze everyday to function. It was clear he had addictions to both, and these had to be managed throughout therapy as co-occurring disorders.
On the other hand, I had yet another friend, Nicole, that ended up being a drug addict, went to rehabilitation pertaining to illegal substance addiction, came back out, went right back to normal life, consumed alcohol within social settings, and was fine. This is what confuses. She actually was put through treatment for a particular habit forming substance and over the health problem of addiction itself. I had been under the impression that they are taught to avoid all addictive things there after as it can be more likely that these people may end up getting addicted to alcoholic beverages themselves. However, However, the lady was and is absolutely fine. She can actually ingest alcohol intensively at particular social settings and always be fine.
So, what precisely is it? Can substance addicts consume alcohol? Is this possible for some of these people to indulge in this other addictive substance without becoming addiction? I bet that it’s likely that dependency will form. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s for sure though.
